For so long, bright white ceilings and trims have been the norm in the majority of homes everywhere. Regardless of your decor and colour scheme, having a white ceiling seemed to be an automatic given.

As people become more style conscious with their interiors, seeing the ceiling as the 5th wall is getting to be more popular. The realisation that a white ceiling doesn’t always make sense, is upon us.

The ceiling must be seen as part of the interior decor. It is something that people will notice. If none of your wall, floor, furniture and accessories are white, what is the reason for your ceiling and trims being white? It will only stick out like a sore thumb, should you not consider this surface well, in your decoration plan.

Test other neutrals for your ceiling

Try a natural tone that will fit seamlessly into the overall look. A warmer or cooler paint than brilliant white, that is better suited to the other colours within the room.

Colour Drench

You can wash your whole room in the same colour – all five walls. There is no reason to leave the ceiling out, just because that’s been the done thing in the past.

Contrast your ceiling colour

You may choose to paint your ceiling in a bold contrasting colour, that can also be found in small details of the accessories too.

Wallpaper your ceiling

Perhaps you will wallpaper your ceiling for a total statement surprise, one which is very on trend, but few are daring enough to try. Choose the right wallpaper and the results will be stunning.

Unless a bright white ceiling is suitable for your decor, don’t accept that this is the only way. There are so many other options for your ceiling when enhancing your decor – don’t leave it out.
