It’s easy to see why people become overwhelmed when choosing a wall paint colour. The choice on the market is extremely vast, and every brand has a different mix of colour types.

The below should help you on your interior wall painting journey and inspire you to try something new and wonderful for your home…

Finding the Right Wall Colour for You

If you are feeling lost, it’s best to start looking at colour groups that you know you like first. Colours that make you feel happy and homely. You can’t test every colour out there, so if you have no clue where to begin, this is a good starting point. This narrows down the options straight away, then if you see something else that you like along the way, it’s a bonus. Whittle down the shades that take your fancy from these colour groups, then test them out.

Alternatively, you may already have a favourite brand of paint. One which you know, has a colour range that often appeals to you. If this is the case, try them first, as you are most likely to find something you like there. You can always look at other brands afterwards and there is no harm in testing a few colours, until you find the right one for you. 

If you do see something ‘new’ and different for your usual taste whilst browsing, don’t be afraid to at least test these colours out, if you like them. Buying a sample or ordering a colour card does not mean you are committing to the colour. Testing it on your wall is one step further in encouraging you to try new things, so don’t shy away. 

Things to Consider

Before actually purchasing an interior wall paint though, there are many other factors to think about, other than just liking the colour you have chosen. For example….

• Is it a good colour for the room use?
• Are you likely to go off the colour quickly?
• Will it achieve the desired look?
• Will it give the right feel for the space?
• Will it work with any remaining items or decor?
• Does it work with the lighting, or will this need to be adjusted 

Ensure you have considered these points before rushing into buying any paint products.

As said previously, the pool of interior paint colours is huge. You could honestly look forever when trying to find one that suits you and your room interior. It’s great when you find something unique though – something that gives the ‘wow’ factor. New interior colour shades are appearing on the market all of the time so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming shades.
