Frequently Asked Questions about my Affordable Interior Design Service
Hello to everyone visiting my website today, and thank you for your interest in my business. My name is Jennifer Kay – the owner and Interior Designer here at The Mini Interior Design Company.
The Mini Interior Design Company is not your everyday interior design service, so understandably, there are sometimes questions as to how this all works…

Me! Jennifer Kay, Owner & Interior Designer
This easy to use Interior Design service has been created for convenience and affordability. Often, professional Interior Design can be out of reach for many people, in terms of expense. I wanted to provide a way for everyday people to gain the solutions and help they need, when it comes to those home decor dilemmas.

Master Bedroom Interior Design: Decor and accessories to go with existing furniture
In order to provide this service, I have cut out steps from the conventional interior design process. Instead I simply advise ideas, suggest suitable products and communicate visuals via Whatsapp. This concept really came into its own during the COVID pandemic, due to it all being contactless. Aside from that, customers like that the service is more relaxed and it can be done at their own pace, from the comfort and convenience of their own sofa, work desk etc.
Since the service is quite unique, you may have some questions about how I can design your room from my phone. Here are some commonly asked questions when customers contact me for a quote….

Hallway & Landing Interior Decor
• How much does it cost?
This a quoted service so you need to contact me for a specific price for your space. Typically, prices range from £150-250 for a full room design, but it does depend on the room size and requirements. The price could be less than this, or more. Some people want new everything. Others just need help picking a few items. Hopefully this gives you a good idea.
• Will you visit my home?
Home visits are not provided. Due to my service being on Whatsapp, my customers are from all over the UK, so visiting customer’s homes is not possible. It is also not necessary for what I offer. Room photographs or videos, measurements (if applicable) and some further information from you is what is required.
• Do you provide 3D/CAD drawings?
These drawings are not part of my offer. Such steps have been removed from this process due to being costly and time consuming. I use a mood board, Pinterest images and other visuals to explain and discuss my ideas with you. I can also advise on aspects such as layout through our discussions.

• Can you advise on building aspects such as knocking down and adding walls?
No, but that doesn’t mean we cannot discuss your ideas. My service is aesthetics only, but I still assist with making decisions for space and function. I do not have tradesmen such as builders working for me, so ultimately, a professional’s opinion is needed for these jobs, and that goes for other, more technical works. Feel free to contact me with what you have in mind and I can let you know what I can help with.
• How long does the process take?
It is different from one customer to the next. Some interior designs can be done quite quickly, others take longer depending on the person’s circumstances and communication speed. Everybody is different. If you need your interior design idea soon, please just get in touch and include this in your request. It can be complete within as little as 30 days as standard, or sooner.
• I don’t need a whole new room decorating, just a few items replacing/a refresh. Can you still help?
Definitely. I can 100% advise on slight improvements for your decor, additional products to enhance what is already there, or just a single piece of furniture you are struggling to find. Whatever it is, just contact me for a quote and/or any questions.

Nursery Interior Design
• Can you work with my existing items?
Absolutely. Not all of the interior design ideas I offer are from scratch. Most of the time, customers have at least one or two pieces they would like to keep. That could be furniture, flooring, lighting or decorative items like art or mirrors. Some things are sentimental, others the customer just loves to much to let go, and they want to keep hold of for future room decor. Whatever it is, and no matter how many items there are, I will work with what you have and make it look fabulous.
• How will you know what I want and what suits my individual taste?
If you choose to go ahead, there is a customer questionnaire to complete. This takes around 5 minutes and I will send you the online link to this. The answers to the questions give me a more in depth insight into your requirements, personal style preferences, colour like/dislikes, how you want the space to look and feel etc. I also use imagery examples to zone in on what kind of looks you like. We discuss lots of inspiration throughout the process, so I can be sure we are looking at the right kind of products and ideas.
• What if I don’t like my design?
You are kept fully up to date with how the moodboard (room design) looks every step of the way. Every time we choose products together, they are added to the moodboard which you will see frequently. You simply tell me at any point if you do not like what you see, and we make necessary amendments. There are no nasty surprises at the end of the process. You will always know the direction in which the design is going. You may not choose to buy every product following this, sometimes people change their mind on certain things afterwards. This interior design service is about providing the room inspiration, but then you have the flexibility to go with as much, or as little as you like.

• Do you purchase the goods for me?
No. This is up to the customer. You can buy as little, or as much as you like from the shopping list I provide you with. See below for more info….
• Do you tell me where I can buy the products?
It’s part of the process! I find products that suit your taste and budget, so I look at suitable retailers to cater for this. These will be reputable online or well-known stores. When I send you product suggestion images, you will see the retailer with them, but I also send you a full shopping list when we have finished the design. This includes all product links that we have decided on for the mood board. You can then purchase the goods with ease, from this list, if you so wish. You can also let me know should you have any retailer preferences.
• Do you arrange any works or can you recommend tradesmen?
No. Again this is another step that is not included in my service. The customer arranges for the works to be done, once I have provided them with the inspiration/ideas they need to decorate. I do not work with tradesmen as I do not have the need to, so cannot make recommendations for who to use. This is not part of what I offer.

• Can more than one person/my partner be involved in the design process?
By all means! Add them to the WhatsApp group and we can discuss everything together.
I hope this helps answer anything you may have been wondering about. If it doesn’t, you know where I am. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have….
