Interior Decor Ideas for your Landing
The landing can be a tricky area to deal with, where interior design is concerned. Usually, it is not as large, or as functional as it’s downstairs counterpart, the hallway. The walls in a landing are often, mostly covered with internal doorways, and the stairway opening can created more difficult decorating decisions.
To a lot of people, the landing doesn’t hold a lot of purpose, other than being the entryway to the upstairs within a house. It may seem like a landing can be limiting, with very little exciting design opportunities – but this couldn’t be further from the truth. There is no reason why your landing has to lack in style. You can make this space as dazzling as any other, and here is how…
Use a statement wallpaper

A beautiful print wallpaper can transform a space instantly, so why not consider using one for your landing space? You can immediately turn a drab or empty wall into something much more pleasant to look at. Add wallpaper to every wall, or perhaps something particularly wild to the largest wall or an usual shaped wall, that will draw the eye instantly.
Create door features

Think about how you can make your doors stand out. Doors can be style statements too, so make them part of the overall look to ensure your whole hallway looks great. Some ideas include wallpapering inside door panels, painting the doors a different colour to the architrave and other trims, painting all of these details in the same bold colour, or even adding little shelves above each doorway for decor items such as trailing plants.
Highlight the ceiling

Its not just the walls that we decorate, it’s the ceiling too, so maybe consider doing something out of the ordinary like wallpapering. Even painting the ceiling in a colour, other than neutral, will add more wow to the landing space.
Add mirrors for space illusion

Mirrors are great for making rooms appear larger, and with most landing areas being contained, mirrors can make all the difference. Place them to reflect attractive views and large spaces, so the room looks twice as big.
Hang dramatic lighting

We all know the difference lighting can make to a space, and the landing area is no different. Choose striking lighting that will not only style-up the ceilings and walls, but will create ambient and useful lighting to suit certain areas.
Include the staircase

Be sure to think about all parts of the staircase in your decor scheme, on the landing too. An eye catching staircase could be all you need to make your landing a stylish space.
