Affordable ways to get your home looking Christmas ready

Christmas is approaching and the festivities will soon start. This time of year means lots of social gatherings and probably many visitors at your home bringing gifts, having drinks or for dinner on the big day itself.

If you are feeling like your home isn’t quite where you want it to be, in terms of decor for Christmas, then fear not. Christmas is a great excuse for disguising any imperfections or unwanted sights in your home. Not only that, but Christmas dressing, can be an inexpensive way to improve the interior of your home, temporarily at least, for such a busy time of year. Most of the items are small, meaning they can be picked up for very affordable prices….

Christmas Decorations

Christmas decorations may seem an obvious one, but if you get them right, they can be a huge distraction from anything you want to hide. You will soon forget about any pending DIY issues when you have these cheerful details displayed around your home. Christmas decorations make us happy and feeling festive. Your house suddenly becomes all about Christmas, rather than any unsightly issues, such as half stripped walls or chipped paint work.

Christmas Themed Soft Furnishings

Christmas look soft furnishings are more than plentiful in the shops and online. You name it, its available. From the high end, to supermarkets, they are all selling themed textiles in abundance. Create a Christmas Wonderland with cosy scatter cushions, warm throws and magical bedding for you, your kids and guests.

Not only do these look the part, but things like cushions and throws are great for hiding old sofa wear and tear. Christmas bedding can help distract from old bedroom decor that you didn’t get the chance to update in time. You will forget about needing new floor, with festive door mats and even rugs.

Table Decor

Make your table special for the festivities and create a statement, very affordably, with an impressive dining display. If you haven’t got around to buying that new dining furniture set yet, then take the emphasis off your table and chairs with eye catching decoration instead.

Table cloths and seat covers are great for hiding and dressing up old, or odd dining furniture. It can also be very inexpensive. I have a huge piece of red tartan vinyl that I bought from Dunelm a few years back. This hides the fact that my dining table and pasting table have been pushed together to hold the larger number of people. With the seating in the way of the legs, nobody can tell.

An elaborate table display can draw the eye and take over anything else going on in the room. Candles, cones, decorative centre pieces, stylish crackers – there are tons of ways to make your table top special. There is no need for this to be just a Christmas day thing either. Have your table dressed like this for the whole of December.
