I would say the majority of us enjoy having visitors round to our home, a night in with friends, a chat with family, you name it, having visitors is great especially after the array of lockdowns recently.

In a recent bit of research from the insurance comparison website Confused.com we get to learn more about what visitors look at the longest when they arrive.
Using eye-tracking technology people we're shown a series of images of different rooms in a home. The total number of times people looked at different elements in the room, like the flooring, the windows or the artwork, was recorded.
The study takes us through a number of rooms throughout the home, from kitchen to living room, bedroom to bathroom.

Interior design insight or swerve ball?
Of course, the research may show us what people are fixated on the quickest but it would be unfair to infer that these types of items are the ones that people like the most. If an item draws the attention the quickest it could mean it's the stand out item in a room for all the wrong reasons.
All the same, the report does throw up some interesting questions in addition to providing us with a degree of insight into the eye-catching elements of a room, who would have guessed that black shower fixtures would draw the eye so much?
